Drs. Mike Blum and Bruce Frederick recentlky announced a new partnership with the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics (UTIG) and specifically the Gulf Basin Depositional Synthesis (GBDS) project to unravel the pre-salt sediment dispersal pathways for the northern Gulf of Mexico (GOM). The GBDS industry consortium serves as an ongoing comprehensive synthesis of Cenozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary fill of the entire GOM basin. The GBDS project continues to focus on refining sequence stratigraphic correlations between the continental margina and deep basin to better assess regional controls on depositional facies.
2015 was a year of substantial change in my life after more than 20 years in Texas as I graduated with a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Texas-Austin, moved to Lawrence, KS to accept a postdoctoral research position at the University of Kansas under the auspices of Dr. Mike Blum, and finally (literally!) married my high-school sweetheart.
